FORT CHIP, Alberta — Environmental pollution has been targeted toward poor, minority and indigenous communities many times throughout history, and this continues to be a reality. An indigenous community in Fort Chip, Alberta, released a report by the University of Manitoba on July 6. The report reveals a connection between cancer rates, wildlife poisoning and tar sands development occurring 150 miles uphill from Fort Chip.
